Life Changes

Explore how life changes can impact your benefits, too.

Major life changes can impact all of us in so many different ways—including our healthcare and financial benefits. Take time to explore how big changes in your life—like getting married, having a baby, adopting a child, retiring and others—can also affect your healthcare, insurance and other benefits coverage and decisions.

A rule of thumb: it’s good information to know.

Having a baby

Consider the following

Add your new baby as an eligible family member for coverage in your Confluent benefit plans

  • Your new baby is eligible for Cigna coverage through Confluent.
  • Remember, to enroll your new baby in these plans, you must make this change by submitting an event in Workday within 25 days of their birth. If you do not, you may need to wait to add your new addition to your coverage.
  • Consider revising your beneficiary designations for your Confluent critical illness and term life insurance coverage to include your new baby. This can be updated through Workday.

Adoption

Consider the following

  • Remember, to enroll your new addition in these plans, you must make this change by submitting an event in Workday within 25 days of when the adoption is final. If you do not, you may need to wait to add your new addition to your coverage.
  • Consider revising your beneficiary designations for your Confluent critical illness and term life insurance coverage to include your new addition. This can be updated through Workday.

Marriage

Consider the following

Add your new spouse and (if applicable) spouse’s eligible children for coverage in your Confluent benefit plans

  • Your spouse and spouse’s eligible children are eligible for medical, dental, and vision coverage through Confluent. You can add them during Open Enrollment, or add during the year as a qualified life event.
  • Remember, to enroll your new spouse/children, you must make this change by submitting an event in Workday within 25 days of when your marriage takes place. If you do not, you may need to wait to add your new spouse to your coverage.
  • Consider revising your beneficiary designations for your life insurance coverage to include your spouse.

Separation or divorce

Consider the following

Remove your spouse and (if applicable) spouse’s eligible children from coverage in your Confluent benefit plans

  • Remember, to remove your spouse/children, you must make this change by submitting it as a qualified life event in Workday within 25 days of when your separation or divorce takes place.
  • Consider revising your beneficiary designations for your critical illness and term life insurance coverage to remove your ex-spouse/children.

Add yourself and your eligible children (if applicable) for coverage through Confluent’s healthcare plans

  • If you and / or your children were covered by your spouse’s benefits plan, you can enroll in Confluent’s healthcare plans by submitting it as a qualified life event in Workday within 30 days of when your separation or divorce takes place.
  • Remember, to add yourself/children, you must make this change by submitting it as a qualified life event in Workday within 25 days of when your separation or divorce takes place.

Change emergency contact information

  • You can update your emergency contact by going to Okta > Workday > Personal Information (under Applications) > Change Emergency Contacts.

Losing a loved one

Consider the following

Remove your deceased family member from coverage in your Confluent benefit plans

  • To do so, please make this change by letting peoplesupport@confluent.io know or submitting it as a benefits change event in Workday.
  • Review your beneficiary designations for your life insurance coverage to replace your deceased family member, if needed.

File life insurance claims

  • In the event of an employee death, the People Team will work with your beneficiaries to handle the necessary paperwork associated with your healthcare and insurance coverage. A copy of a certified death certificate will be required to process the life insurance claim.
